Artificial intelligence (AI) might seem like the realm of science fiction, but you might be surprised to find out that you’re already using it. Artificial intelligence (AI) has a huge effect on your life, whether you’re aware of it or not, and its influence is likely to grow in the coming years.
What is AI?
AI or artificial intelligence is the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, especially computer systems. In computer science AI research is defined as the study of "intelligent agents": any device that perceives its environment and takes actions that maximize its chance of successfully achieving its goals. These processes include learning (the acquisition of information and rules for using the information), reasoning (using the rules to reach approximate or definite conclusions), and self-correction. Particular applications of AI include expert systems, speech recognition and machine vision.

The adoption of artificial intelligence in healthcare is on the rise and solving a variety of problems for patients, hospitals and the healthcare industry overall. It is being used by doctors in assisting with the diagnosis and treatment procedures. This reduces the need for multiple machines and equipment which in turn brings down the cost. AI could help medical professionals in designing treatment plans and finding the best suited methods for every patient. Smartphone
Artificial intelligence is slowly making its way onto smartphones - and may be a staple feature on devices in 2018. The most common application of AI can be seen in our mobile phones in the form of Virtual Personal Assistants. Siri, Cortana, Google Assistant, Bixby and Alexa are some very commonly used digital assistants that are found in iOs, Android and Windows phones. These applications collect information in order to interpret what is being asked by the user and then the required data is fetched to suit the user’s preferences. There is a huge amount of learning involved on the part of these assistants and a lot of information is tracked to ensure efficiency.
Many smartphones released in the past year have included AI-focused hardware and software, from Google's Pixel phones to Apple's iPhones to Huawei's Mate line. These phones use AI in all sorts of clever ways, from imaging and photography, to power efficiency, to security.
Manufacturing
Artificial intelligence (AI) is just now finding its niche in manufacturing, as the technology matures and costs drop—and as manufacturers discover applications for which AI algorithms can make complex decisions. And as it becomes ubiquitous, the future of artificial intelligence in manufacturing is already becoming feasible in emerging markets; showcasing better sensory capabilities; and, off the factory floor, predicting what will be needed and when. Robotic parts are used in the factories to assemble different parts and then pack them without needing any manual help. Right from the raw materials to the shipped final products, robotic parts play an imminent role in most of the entities.

Advances in the sheer power of computers will lead to intelligence that becomes progressively smarter. Virtual connectivity will enable integration of relevant computing resources to provide users with integrated and seamless services. Cloud will interpret aggregated data sets against patterns to anticipate tasks, activities, and events. Developments in cloud services will transition computing from a physical experience to a virtual one available to any user via a simple device operating on ubiquitous networks with seamless connectivity. Big Data pattern analysis will take place in the background; Big Data will provide context-awareness capabilities. Artificial intelligence is taking the automobile industry by storm while all the major automobile players are utilizing their resources and technology to come up with the best. Ever since artificial intelligence made its way to the automotive sector, the industry has been transforming drastically, bringing about some of the most innovative auto tech features to date. With the release of a fully autonomous car inching its way to existence, it is important to point out the importance of AI technology in making such a feat come true. Google’s Waymo and Tesla’s Autopilot features have already paved their way towards the introduction of AI in automobiles. Whether it’s self-parking, detecting collision, blind spot monitoring, voice recognition, or navigation, it’s almost like the car is acting as an assistant to the owner and teaching different ways of a safe driving.

This AI application allows retailers to serve customers tailored product recommendations based on past purchases, browsing history, and popular trends. More and more brands are harnessing the power of AI to implement this capability across their digital channels, from websites to email campaigns.
Brands can use in-store monitoring systems to collect the same sort of valuable data that digital traffic provides. These systems can determine how customers physically travel through your store: where they spend the most time, what parts of the store they skip, even how they react to products and displays. Brands can use this data to build seamless, customer-centric, data-driven in-store experiences the same way they would for their digital experiences.
Surveillance
Artificial intelligence is giving surveillance cameras digital brains to match their eyes, letting them analyze live video with no humans necessary. This could be good news for public safety, helping police and first responders more easily spot crimes and accidents and have a range of scientific and industrial applications. But it also raises serious questions about the future of privacy and poses novel risks to social justice. One of the widely used Surveillance AI app is Ella. It is an app and web platform that uses AI to analyze what’s happening in video feeds and make it instantly searchable. Ella can recognize hundreds of thousands of natural language queries, letting users search footage to find clips showing specific animals, people wearing clothes of a certain color, or even individual car makes and models.
Artificial Intelligence has been growing in all the technologically relevant fields but it is also spreading in the areas where nobody had imagined it to be. This may sound like a progress but it can be equally disruptive in future. It is believed that AI is a very sensitive issue and if not handled with care, it could end up imparting ‘Superintelligence’ to machines which would make them even more intelligent than humans.
